Bambusa multiplex, commonly known as Willowy Bamboo, boasts sleek, slender canes and a lush canopy of green leaves, making it a favourite for creating natural screens or serene garden backdrops. This bamboo variety adds a touch of elegance and tranquillity to landscapes, providing both visual appeal and a gentle rustling sound when the wind whispers through its foliage.
Willowy Bamboo is versatile and can be grown in pots or directly in the ground. It prefers a sunny to partially shaded spot and well-drained soil. If you're planting in sandy terrains, mixing in organic compost can improve the soil's moisture retention. For optimal growth, apply a bamboo-specific fertiliser in the early spring. Although this bamboo has a clumping habit and doesn't spread aggressively, occasional pruning to manage height and form can be done after the growing season.
